Tony's eyes are settling. He is focusing his eyes on the same object. He went from a measurement of 30 to 0 in the front and 1 on the sides. 0 being best and anything below a 4 can be trained to fuse together. Our awesome God has once again answered our prayers! His eyes are looking much better. Only slightly red but will take another couple of weeks for the stiches to dissolve.

Tony posted the song " I can see clearly now the rain is gone". By Bob Marley on his face book. I wish I knew how To do a link because it's very apropos. He eyes have been adjusting to the operation and he has been having spans Of time with clear vision. I can't wait to watch him look at things tomorrow morning. Is that weird?

Tony gave me a little scare this morning. His double vision was back. I called the doctor in the afternoon And the nurse told me that it was normal for his eyes to fluctuate back and forth for about 2 weeks. He was able to see the tv later in the day without the double vision. he feels pretty good. His eyes are very red and swollen and sensitive to light; but don't hurt him too much.

Operation went well

Tony's eye operation went well . He said the stitches were very painful but not as bad as when they took out his Feeding tube. It hurts more when his eyes are open so he is not opening them too much yet. He is not seeing Double anymore! the doctor had said at some point between now and when he's 100 he may need to have the operation repeated. It is such a big relief to have it over with. Yesterday Tony finally had an appointment with the bone doctor. He showed us Tony's X-rays of his right hand. Apparently he broke a bone in his hand as well as a finger. They are now healed and he was going to request hand Therapy for him to increase the mobility in his finger. I think we will wait on doing anymore therapy. I think we are all so glad to be finally finished with therapy and we are not ready to start anymore. Tony says his finger doesn't really bother him as he can use it to do whatever he needs. I'm thinking if he does do the hand therapy We won't go all the way to Rancho to do it. We will look for something more local and convenient. I just want to take a minute here and Thank the Lord for being with the doctor today for Tony's surgery. God has been carrying us every step of the way on this journey. He is sooo good!

Eye operation

On Wednesday Tony will be having an operation on the muscles for his eye to correct the double vision. He is a bit nervous because the opthamoligist told us that after the surgery they will need to measure his vision before they stich him up. The doctor said on a scale of 1 to 10 , the Pain from the stiching up part of the operation would be a 10. I'm hoping he was exaggerating. Please keep Tony in prayer.

Happy New Years everyone! Tony and I got back home on the 31st. We had a wonderful time in London. It was really important for me to be with both my sons this year. I can't adequately describe the feeling. We came home for New Years Eve so we could spend that time with Mike. My first thought about putting 2011 behind us was one of joy. The accident was truly a nightmare that I never would have chosen to happen. After thinking about it for awhile I realized it was also an incredible year. God was there with us every step of the way. I Have really had to remember every day to turn the day over to him and trust his judgement. My faith has grown tremendously as I watched him heal Tony. We have been told that when Tony is done healing , cognitively he should be very close to where he was before the accident. I think he is getting very close to that already. It should take about a year for him to be Totally done healing.
Physically he is also doing very well. The eye doctor seems to think he can fix Tony's double vision and we will see the bone doctor about his finger in a couple of weeks. The reality of a complete recovery is becoming more real all the time.
I don't understand Gods whole plan for this yet. I suspect we won't totally understand until we are standing before him. We have however been given the gift of watching Gods hand in action. He carried us when we couldn't bear to walk alone. We stood helpless as God guided the doctors and nurses hands. We were amazed as things happened that were so scary to watch but turned out to be part of the healing process. We also felt the Love of so many people who prayed for Tony . So many we didn't even know. God is so good!
